Participate in our Educational Programs

The Toledo Humane Society believes that respect for living things, including animals and people, begins with education. The THS Education Department offers a variety of single and multi-day programs designed to appeal to different age groups and interests. To accommodate the busy schedules of students, we offer educational opportunities after school and on Saturdays. Costs will vary from program to program.

Tails Around Toledo welcomes members of the community to visit the shelter and take one of our adoptable dogs out for a day on the town. You can give a dog a chance to stretch his or her legs, ride in the car, grab a yummy treat, and more! Our new program will be offered Sunday-Friday with advanced sign up required.

Join us on Saturday, June 3rd from 9am-12pm at The Shops at Fallen Timbers for a morning of fun, food, furry friends, treats and games for pups and participants alike, and even our signature "Paw Patio" for paw-ticipants 21 and up!

By the end of the week, we hope to see the new nursery filled from floor to ceiling with life-saving supplies!

Animal lovers are provided the opportunity to explore a variety of animal careers in this fun and educational camp experience. Guest speakers, a fun-filled field trip, and projects provide insight into animal-related occupations. This class is for adult dogs 6 months and older. Dogs will learn to focus on their guardians instead of distractions. Dogs will also learn sit, down, coming-when-called, loose leash walking and more! Toledo Humane Society Behavior and Training Manager, Rachel Kilmer, and Dog Trainer, Jane Hufstader, will work with each family and give them the proper tools for success!

This six-week course is for puppies 5 months and younger. This class provides you with the necessary foundation and socialization skills needed to have a calm, confident pup! Toledo Humane Society Behavior and Training Manager, Rachel Kilmer, and Dog Trainer, Jane Hufstader, will work with each family and give them the proper tools for success! Puppies will have the opportunity to earn their AKC STAR certificate at the end of the class.

The Toledo Humane Society offers both onsite and offsite classroom visits designed to educate and promote a more compassionate community where respect for living things, including animals and people, begins with education.

Microchipping Your Pet

The Toledo Humane Society offers engraved owner ID tags for purchase, as well as microchip implantation by appointment. The cost of a microchip is $25.00 and includes the activation of the microchip through 24PetWatch. A microchip is a permanent ID tag that your pet will never lose. The microchip itself has no internal energy source, so it will last the life of your pet.

When you Sponsor a Kennel, you’re providing needed financial support for the animals that stay in your kennel. Your gift pays for veterinary care, food, clean linens, and for future renovations to provide your animals with increased comfort and enrichment during their stay at the Toledo Humane Society. THS Thrift Store and Donation Center

The 12,500 square foot store offers furniture, jewelry, antiques, collectibles and more.

All proceeds from the THS Thrift Store directly support the animals at our shelter and help us to fulfill our ongoing mission to lead the community in efforts focused on relieving the suffering of, preventing cruelty to, and providing for the humane treatment of animals.
